University of Strasbourg Information

Named after the famous French Scientist the Louis Pasteur University is located in Strasbourg in France. The University was established in the 16th century and was renamed. The President of the ULP is Alain Beretz. The University of Strasbourg ranking is joint fourth best university in France, and 150th in the world. Similarly rated French colleges include Université de Provence Aix-Marseille, Paris Descartes University, University of Paris Diderot, and Joseph Fourier University.

In the year 2009 the Louis Pasteur, together with the Marc Bloch and Robert Schuman universities were converged into the University of Strasbourg.

The University of Strasbourg is especially strong in the fields of medicine, natural sciences and technology. There are 14 different research federations, and these are split up into 74 specific scientific research units.

Over the years faculty associated with the University of Strasbourg (or the previous three universities) have been awarded a total of 15 Nobel prizes. The winners include the physician Albrecht Kossel, the chemist Jean-Marie Lehn, the physicist Karl Ferdinand Braun and the theologian Albert Schweitzer.
