The College Station branch of the Texas A&M University (TAMU) is the main part of the larger university system with the same name and is the first public institution of higher learning created in Texas, having been established in the year 1871.

Collectively, the whole system has an endowment of $5.6 billion and a student body of around 50,000. It has a large alumni base of around 300,000 and all in all has the statistics to go with the reputation of being one of the larger and more prestigious universities within the United States of America.
