Although established in the early 1970’s the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPU) only gained full university status in 1994. Despite the institutions relatively young age it has risen rapidly in it’s ratings amongst the world’s best universities and the Times of London rates it as close to being one of the best 250 universities in the world. It is presently overseen by Chung-Kwong Poon.

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University ranking is number 26 in Asia in the University Review List. Similarly ranked colleges include Shanghai Jiao Tong University, National Cheng Kung University, Nanjing University, and Zhejiang University.

Other Good colleges in Hong Kong include University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Chinese University of Hong Kong, and City University of Hong Kong.

One of the reasons that the Times rates the The Hong Kong Polytechnic University so highly is due to it’s strengths in tourism, hotel management, finance, civil engineering, design and business. The university has six major faculties as follows:
