The University of Warwick traditionally ranks very highly in the newspaper university ranking lists: It is considered to be in the top six universities in Britain in many ranking lists and is considered the 57th best in the world by the Times. The University of Warwick ranking is number 5 in the University Review top universities in UK List. Similarly ranked colleges include University of Cambridge, LSE, University of St Andrews, University of Oxford, UCL, and University of Durham.
The university of Warwick is located three miles from the major British city of Coventry and about eight miles from Warwick itself. It was established in the middle of the 1960’s as part of a movement that saw the creation of many new universities in the UK, including those of York, and East Anglia; most of these universities have gone on to gain high rankings within the UK.
Some of the notable alumni who have attended the university of Warwick include the Police singer Sting, the comedy writer Stephen Merchent (the office / extras), Football based comedian Frank Skinner, directors Paul Anderson and Vadim Jean, and the Scottish politician Wendy Alexander, Tory David Davis and Canadian politician Kevin Taft.
