About the Université Pierre et Marie Curie – UPMC
Paris 06 (Université Paris VI) is also known as the Université Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC) and is located in Paris, France; it was constructed in the 1950’s and 60’s but can trace it’s roots back as far as the year 1253, when it was a part of the University of Paris. The Université Pierre et Marie Curie ranking is the 2nd best university in France, and 54th in the world. Similarly rated French colleges include Université Paris Sud 11, University of Paris Diderot, Ecole Normale Superieure, and Université de Provence Aix-Marseille.
There are around 30,000 undergraduate students, 22,000 of which are science students and approximately 8,000 postgraduate scholars at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie, in addition to the there are around 4,000 staff and faculty.
The UPMC/ Université Pierre et Marie Curie has over 180 research laboratories and has six centres of excellence that are selected by the EU to host doctoral students and scientists that hold Marie Curie fellowships.
