Student Experience
Most people visiting the campus of the Miami University Oxford were initially very impressed with the place. Many commented on the attractiveness of the Georgian buildings (red-brick style) and the greenness of the campus. Students feel that this gives Miami a very traditional feel. Although the campus is beautiful many commented on the amount of new construction that is going on and the associated noise. Many noted how well kept the university campus is, however some people note how much the campus changes in the winter when the mainly deciduous trees have lost their leaves and water features such as the fountains are closed down because of frost.
Students at Miami Oxford are considered to be friendly, spirited, and happy.
The city of Oxford itself is quite small without too many attractions of its own, though it does contain a few bars and eateries, and a few of the major shopping supermarkets such as Wal-Mart and Walgreens. Many people say it is not too bad due to its proximity to the city of Cincinnati, just an hour away which offers all the main attractions associated with a major city; it is also close to the college town of Dayton.
The dorms are considered small, but modern (with most being/or in the process of renovation).
Students consider the campus to be very safe, as it has a tight college community feel and is located in a small town environment, with no major bad areas within 30 miles of the university. Miami also males escort and transportation services available to its students if required.
As a Public Ivy institution, the education offered is similar to found at places like State University of New York Stony Brook, University of Texas at Austin, University of Delaware, and University of California, Berkeley.
