Erasmus University Information
Located in Rotterdam in the Netherlands Erasmus University concentrates its studies into three main areas: Economics and management, Medicine and health, and Law, culture and society. The university, which was first established in 1913, and in its present form in 1973 is presided over by the rector Steven Lamberts.
The three major areas of study are covered by eight different faculties and schools, these cover: Economics; Management; Medicine; Health Policy and management; Law; Social Science; History and Arts; and Philosophy.
Despite being a fairly new (in European terms) university, Erasmus has many notable alumni and faculty associated with it including the noble laureate Jan Tinbergen (economics). Other notable people include Luce Irigaray; Ruud Lubbers; Jan Pronk; Frank Grosveld; and Albert Osterhau.
The Erasmus University ranking is 55th in Europe.
