University of Western Ontario Information
Having been founded in 1878, the University of Western Ontario is one of Canada’s oldest universities. The University of Western Ontario ranking is 12th best in Canada, and 204th in the world. Similarly rated Canadian colleges include University of Victoria, University of Ottawa, Dalhousie University, and Simon Fraser University.
It is located in the city of London north of the Canadian Thames river. Since it’s creation the university has grown in scope and size and now caters for around 30,000 students.
The University of Western Ontario has twelve different faculties and schools. These offer study across a wide array of subjects; the university offers over 200 programs. The major faculties are as follows:

Over the years Western Ontario has attracted many distinguished faculty and scholars; some of the names who have graced the university include Sir Frederick Banting who discovered Insulin; the actresses Nancy Dolman and Kelly Rowan; Sports stars Steve Rucchin and Marnie McBean; and the economists François Bourguignon and Michael Walker.
