Paris Dauphine University Information
The Université de technologie en sciences des organisations et de la décision de Paris-Dauphine is usually shortened to Paris Dauphine University or Université Paris-Dauphine and was founded in 1968 under the name Université Paris IX. The Paris Dauphine University ranking is joint 9th best university in France, and 365th to 390th in the world. Similarly rated French colleges include Henri Poincaré University, Montpellier 2 University, École Polytechnique, and École supérieure de physique et de chimie industrielles de la ville de Paris.
Its main purpose was to serve as an academic institution for management and economic sciences. It was built in the former headquarters of NATO, the Palais de l’Otan.
It is one of the six members of the Paris Universitas union, along with Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris II Panthéon Assas University, Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris III Sorbonne Nouvelle University, and Paris VI Pierre et Marie Curie University. From its foundation, the university has had eight presidents and its current president is Laurent Batsch, a management professor.
After receiving its university stature in 1970, the university gain much reputation for its excellence in academics. Although a university, Dauphine is extremely selective in terms of enrollees. The French education ministry gave the university the grand établissement stature in 2004. The stature gave the university more opportunities to open a variety of courses.
The organization of the university is divided into three departments: MSO, MIDO and LSO. Today, Dauphine has around 80 specializations spread out over several disciplines like Political Science, Mathematics, Sociology, Law, IT, Economics and Management. It has 350 research laboratories which contributes to the university’s credo of continuous learning. Its researchers have been published in journals across Europe.
In its goal to become a top university worldwide, the university has extended its reach to other parts of the globe. It currently has 180 bilateral agreements with around 40 countries, as well as six join diplomas with the Goethe University in Frankfurt and The Autonomous University in Madrid.
