Jagiellonian University Information
Jagiellonian University (Uniwersytet Jagielloński in Polish) can trace it’s roots back to the time of Casimir III the Great, and is the second oldest university in all of central Europe. It is rated very highly in the Times university rankings and is considered to be easily one of the best 350 universities in the world.
Other world renown colleges in Poland include the University of Warsaw and University of Wroclaw.

Being one of the oldest educational institutions in the world has led to many distinguished scholars passing through the gates of Jagiellonian University over the years, these include: the Astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus; Military leader John III Sobieski; Nobel prize winners such as Ivo Andric and Wisława Szymborska; great Chemists like Leo Sternbach, Ignacy Łukasiewicz and Tadeusz Pankiewicz (who played an active role in rescuing jewish people subjected to the holocaust); and the Poets Jan Kochanowski and Wincenty Pol.
