Wake Forest University Information
Wake Forest University is located in the US state of North Carolina. It can trace its roots back to 1834 when it was known as the Wake Forest Manual Labor Institute. At that time the university required that half of the students time was spent in the fields and half at study.
Today the university is led by president Nathan Hatch and attracts over 4,000 students. Wake Forest is well thought of in the US both for its quality of education and for its sports programs; their sports teams are known as the Demon Deacons.
In all, the university offers over 34 programs that lead to major degrees. At the graduate level Wake Forest University, Winston Salem, NC has schools in Management, Law, Divinity, and Medicine.
As a university known for it’s sporting prowess, Wake Forest has produced many top athletes over the years: these include the golfers Arnold Palmer, Curtis Strange and Lanny Wadkins; Football players Brian Carroll, Michael Parkhurst and Matt Taylor; and Basketball players Josh Howard, Tim Duncan and Billy Packer.
The Wake Forest University ranking is 52nd best college in the US and 228th best in the world on the University Review College Ranking List. It is ranked as the 27th best college in the nation by the USnews.
