Heidelberg University Information
The Heidelberg University (Universität Heidelberg) is the oldest university in Germany. It was founded in 1386 and since then has been a force in research and public university education with international recognition in both of those areas. The Heidelberg University ranking is the 3rd best university in Germany, and 62nd in the world. Similarly rated German colleges include Technical University Munich, University of Munich, University of Göttingen, and University of Bonn.
At the current time, it has a 25,000 student body, and there is a strong alumni, which enjoy coming back to participate in alumni activities and to help support the institution.
The university is divided into a number of different faculties that focus on a diverse range of subjects from theology through to bio-sciences. Within these different faculties the departments sponsor degree programs for the students to take. There are dozens of degree programs available at the Heidelberg University and the long standing academic prowess of the institution serves to regularly assure students new to the university that the degree programs are of a high quality.
In addition to the academic side of things, the university has a wide range of facilities available to students in need. Not only are there various computer centers and libraries on campus, but there are also tutoring services available that focus on skills such as mathematics and polishing of writing skills. There is also a complete medical center and a separate hospital on campus for students medical needs.
All of this means that the Heidelberg University is a great place to be. There are a number of different people around that agree with this assessment and that is why as the alumni list of the University of Heidelberg continues to grow, the contributions that the university is able to obtain from their alumni grow by larger proportions. Students seem to genuinely be grateful for the education that they receive at the Heidelberg University and many of them are able to go on to rich and fulfilling careers in the professional or research industries; careers that make them even more appreciative of the undergraduate or graduate education they were able to obtain.
