The University of Bath is a public university in England. It is currently ranked as the 9th best universities in the United Kingdom by the Guardian newspaper. The University of Bath ranking number is 9 in the University Review best UK universities list. Similarly ranked colleges include Surrey, Exeter, Lancaster University, and Durham.

Bath’s main campus is situated in Claverton Down, at a distance of around one and a half miles from Bath city. The campus is so designed that one can cross the grounds from any one destination to another in a time-span of fifteen minutes. Also the vehicular passage is separated from pedestrian traffic; the road traffic is diverted onto the ground level while pedestrians are directed onto a raised central thoroughfare commonly called as the Parade.

Although only awarded a university charter by the government forty years ago, Bath university can trace it’s roots back to the year 1856 when it was known as the Bristol trade school. The school was granted university status in 1963 following a report by the Robbins Committee into the state of higher education in the UK. This was instrumental in conferring Bath to full university standing. In 1964, the makings of a new campus in Bath was undertaken and in 1965, 4 South, the first building was completed. The Royal Charter was given in 1966 and through the succeeding decade, additional buildings were constructed as the campus was progressively developed. In 2000, another campus was opened in Oakfield, Swindon but closed down in July 2008.

The university of Bath is reputed to have the best training in the disciplines of mathematics, physics, and in technology. In addition, it is currently strong in the fields of humanities, the social sciences and in management.

The University of Bath has 15 courses considered excellent in the latest government reviews, namely, Physics and Astronomy; Mathematics, Statistics and Operational Research; Education; Recreation, Sport and Tourism; Mechanical Engineering; Molecular Biosciences; Pharmacy and Pharmacology; Economics; Business and Management; Architecture and Civil Engineering; Computer Science; Politics; Hospitality and Leisure; Electronic and Electrical Engineering; Social Policy and Administration; and Biosciences. Currently steered by its Chancellor, Lord Tugendhat.
