Delft University of Technology Information
The Delft University of Technology (Technische Universiteit Delft – TU Delft), located in the Netherlands, was first established in the middle of the 19th century by King Willem II. He wanted a university that was able to educate people in the skills needed for civil engineering.
The Delft University of Technology ranking is 42nd in Europe. Other top colleges and universities in the Netherlands include Utrecht University, Universiteit Leiden, Wageningen University, University of Amsterdam, University of Groningen, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Erasmus University Rotterdam, and Radboud University Nijmegen.
Over time Delft has embraced new technologies and now teaches fourteen main degrees at undergraduate level across eight faculties. Some of the topics available at undergraduate level include aerospace engineering, architecture, marine technology, and of course civil engineering. At masters level there is a wider array of courses to choose from.

Over the years many of the worlds leading engineers have passed through the gates of Delft including the nobel prize winners Jacobus van’t Hoff (Chemistry) and Simon van der Meer (physics). other notable people include the biologists Martinus Beijerinck and Ad Bax; the architects Francine Houben Eric van Egeraat and Michiel Riedijk; and scientist Dirk Coster.
