The Israel Institute of Technology (Technion – הטכניון – מכון טכנולוגי לישראל) is an urban university located in Haifa, Israel.
It was established in 1924 and since then has grown into a university that teaches hundreds of courses across 18 core disciplines; the areas of study are as follows:
Aerospace engineering; Agricultural engineering; Architecture and urban planning; Biology; Biomedical engineering; Chemistry; Chemical engineering; Civil and environmental engineering; Computer science; Electrical engineering; Food engineering and biotechnology; Industrial engineering and management; Mathematics; Mechanical engineering; Physics.
The Technion Israel Institute of Technology has many famous alumni and faculty associated with it these include the noble prize winners (Chemistry) Avram Hershko and Aaron Ciechanover. Other people of note include Nathan Rosen (quantum mechanics), Abraham Lempel, Yaacov Ziv, Yuval Neeman (quark) and Zeev Suraski (PHP).
